Israel’s Young Activists by Naomi Eisenberger, Executive Director of the Good People Fund, February 15 2009
The Good People Fund is a US-based Jewish organization that helps small groups of people who “work quietly and diligently, often below the radar screen and with shoe-string budgets, to better our world in untold numbers of ways.” The founders of Fugee Fridays held a meeting with representatives of the Good People Fund in February 2009, in which we explained what we are doing and how we see our initiative developing. The Good People Fund expressed their support for Fugee Fridays, and offered to provide funds for a website, t-shirts and stickers. In this blog post, Executive Director Naomi Eisenberger discusses her impressions of our work.

Fugee Fridays (pdf) by Mya Guarnieri, Metro, The Jerusalem Post, Oct. 24 2008
“There’s tension in the air this week. Rumors are abuzz that one of the shelters was cleared out the night before and that the Sudanese men who lived there were arrested. They’re not sure what they’ll find there when they deliver the food. In the meantime, the volunteers get to work… When we arrive at the narrow lane that dozens of Eritreans call home, we are greeted by a scene that resembles a street party. Volunteers are playing soccer with some of the children, giving piggyback rides to others and the sound of the children shouting and squealing with laughter fills the air.”
