Redesigning the Square
Dec 28th, 2008 | By Jesse Fox | Category: Design ExhibitionsUrbanica is collecting materials for an exhibition about Tel Aviv’s Kikar Hamedina.
One of Tel Aviv’s most upscale spots, and also one of the only remaining open squares in the city, Kikar Hamedina is not expected to survive as an open plaza for very long. Three new residential skyscrapers have been approved for the center of the square.
Urbanica, an urban design group started by some friends of mine from the Technion, believes that Kikar Hamedina should remain an open green area, and is collecting ideas and research about the site. If you are interested in contributing to the exhibition, click here to read more about on Urbanica’s blog (in Hebrew).
